I originally started golfing as a lefty when I was 10. I just dabbled around. Now several years later I am getting back into it. I have tried hitting both ways. It feels more comfortable left but I slice it so it ends up at a 45 degree angle from where I had hit it. When I hit it right I hit it straighter but not necessarily as far. Im in a big hole. I also bought a starter set that is left handed.
I forgot to add that I shoot right in hockey and hit left in baseball

If you can hit it straight right handed I would stick with that because thats more important than distance. Around the greens is where you need the good feel so whatever feels better on short shots is probably the best club. Either way it takes practice. I play tee to green left handed and putt righty and everything seems to work out fine for me.

Looking to buy a golf glove for my dad for Christmas, and I know he is left handed, so was wondering which hand would I have to buy the golf glove for?

Is it usually the top (proper dominant hand) while swinging? So would that make it be the right hand?

Any advice would be appreciated.

It's the right hand, if he uses left handed golf clubs. Some people that are left handed actually use right handed clubs, because they learned the game with someones hand me down clubs that was right handed. So double check that, but assuming he plays with lefty clubs, he needs a right hand glove. and its a great present for a golfer. A nice new glove is always welcome!

Hi. I am (severely) left-handed (as in I can barely use my right hand for anything) and I started playing golf when I was about 9-10. I have been living in malaysia since I was about 3 and at the time I started golf, my Dad couldn’t find a lefty set my size, so bought my a righty set.
My relationship with golf has been an on-off one and I did drop it at about 11 or 12 (by this time I had proper sized right-hand clubs). I am now 15 and have picked it up again, and it has been going well (for my standard :S).
Recently I picked up my dads old lefty golf clubs (he is right handed but playes all 2 handed sports the lefty way) and tried swinging them in my garden. At first it felt a bit unnatural, but after a while I felt as if I could put a lot more power into the swing compared with my other clubs as I can’t hit too far with my right handed clubs.

Should I make the switch to left-handed clubs as I suppose I am still a beginner and I think I would probably perform better playing the left-handed way?

Since you favor the left hand and you said the left handed club now feels more natural, I would switch your stance to take full advantage of your preference.
